BFC Architectural Metals was founded in 1987 by Mike Cochran on the belief that quality, craftsmanship, design, and delivery matter. It turns out that Mike was onto something. From humble beginnings in a garage, BFC has grown into a dynamic organization serving exacting clients by staying true to these principles.
Today, BFC is a team of dedicated and talented craftspeople, designers, project managers, and more, who work from our 10,000 square foot shop in Seattle, WA. Our team live and breathe these founding principals in our everyday work, delivering the best possible products in the shortest possible time to our customers.
KIRK KOONTZ
General Manager
Kirk is a Pacific Northwest Native with a passion for creativity, manufacturing, and problem solving which is reflected in his diverse work experience. Kirk started his career as a Metal Artist and Fabricator before moving into motorsport design and fabrication, and ultimately into engineering. He spent his early career as a manufacturing engineer, honing his skills in process and product design before moving into aerospace sales where he developed new customer relationships in the US and European markets. In 2018, Kirk had the opportunity to merge these passions by joining BFC Architectural Metals.
Outside the shop, Kirk takes pretty much any excuse to make things or go play outside. You’ll find him tinkering in his garage, welding and fabricating parts for his early 90s Audi collection, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
